Iceland Airwaves Festival has been called "the most innovative music festival”. This festival has featured several artists including The Flaming Lips, Fatboy Slim, and Thievery Corporation as well as top DJs who keep spinning discs, until dawn.
This festival is held in Reykjavík: the city, which also offers insights into its divers cultural, historical and nightlife. Iceland Airwaves Festival started in 1999 as a talent show. The efforts of the organizers and the media coverage gave a smooth passage to Airwaves reflect on the cultural life in Reykjavík. Local artists such as Minus, Apparat Trabant, Leaves and more found this festival as a platform for their success and are now part of the International music scenario.
The festival is attended by people - both national and international – for fresh music, inspiration or just for enjoying the offers that the festival provides.
If you are planning to attend the festival, make sure you take your video camera with additional data cards, or you may miss the best opportunity to catch your favorite genre in LIVE action. Every time before entering the venues (which vary year to year), you could transfer the previous day’s data to a laptop/PC. Also, you may need a rain-gear as the weather is not very predictable over there. Last season, it was wet. This season, the fans are praying to the Weather Gods for a nice weather.
